We are not playing Escada the next 2 Wednesdays. We start back up playing every Wednesday on 1/16/13. And, yes! We did decide to take New Year’s Eve off this year, sorry we haven’t had one off since 1997! Although I played w/ What Matters in 97 so not even then did I have it off! It was such an honor to work with Chris Lord-Alge. Him and his staff were great to work with. Song is sounding amazing. We are scheduled to master the mix in NY next week. Speaking of NY, we hope all of our friends and fans are safe in NY and NJ after Sandy. We send our love and prayers. As of right now our show in NYC this Thursday night is still on, we’ll keep you posted. We are looking forward to our upcoming shows in VA and NC too. I have a very cool solo show coming up in a couple of weeks. Here is the deal. I am playing at Alibi’s (the old Nobody’s) on Saturday June 2nd in Providence. It will be just little old me with a microphone and an acoustic guitar, oh yeah, I might even bring the piano out too! The shows starts at 8:00 pm . I am only playing one set, should be done by 9:30. It is a free show and there will be seats for all. I will be playing some old Dean solos classics, Complaints hits and some brand new tunes that no one has ever heard yet! So I got scolded by some of you for not writing in this blog frequently enough (and some of you are very large, see one Big Sean!) I figured with tweeting and FaceBook you wouldn’t be reading this, but hey, who am I to judge, read away! I can rock it old school! So as most of you know, we opened up for Sugar Ray Saturday night. It was a great show! Mark and the boys from the band were BEYOND nice. Very cool and laid back! We got to share the stage, eat, drink and watch the Pats with the boys from California back in the dressing room. Stay tuned because we got pretty friendly, numbers were exchanged and there may be some future Sugar Ray/Complaints bills coming up! We also want to thank The Blue Music hall (Salisbury MA) Bill who ran sound and Lauren who ran the show and Dina who made sure I had no less than 25 yummy rolls with by fancy dinner! We must also thank the entire HP and PC connection staff and friends (who also bought us beers at The Grog later) Our new friends in Chicago (Dave and Kelsey thanks!) from Impact sports. The PC Connection and HP list of supporters is endless (Jen, Tracey, Aaron, Sarah and about 20 other fine boys and girls whose names are alluding me) we do drink a lot, limited brain cell capacity, sorry. I won Best Male Vocalist at the Motif Awards last night, very exciting! I really am so grateful to all of you for supporting me and the band, and for all of your votes! Also, as I so eloquently stated last night in my acceptance speech, I am eternally grateful to my fellow complaints. They are my brothers from other mothers and my best friends in the world. We enjoy what we do so much that I feel guilty getting paid for what we do sometimes (OK, that's a bit of a stretch................. show me the money!). Thanks again to everyone! Yes, this picture of me is not the most flattering, but it is real. No Photoshop, no multiple takes, one snap shot in time. As you should already know, we have started playing every Wednesday night the all new Escada Bar (Rte 44 Johnston). There is never a cover charge; they serve great food, cheap drinks and plenty of free onsite parking. Only the cool kids hang out on Wednesdays. There are always lots of our musician friends on hand as well and we always have a great time. Hope to see you all there soon! We start @ 9:30 sharp! Thanks Dean and the other 2 stooges………… 2/9/2011 Ok kids, This is a different posting, maybe more for the boys than the girls. As you know I spend an awful lot of time in bars drinking beer (pretty good career choice, huh?) I find myself getting into sports arguments all the time. I would have to say that basketball is in a very distant 3rd place as far as my favorite sport (baseball and football come first!). But I have always been a Celtic fan, and I did grow up in the Michael Jordan era. So I always here “Kobe Bryant is better than Michael Jordan”. Big argument I have been in over many a Guinness! Again, not a huge basketball fan, but I clearly remember watching Jordan play many games. I’ve never seen Kobe, LeBron or any other player start to scratch the surface of how Jordan affected a game. Again, not a huge basketball fan, so I could never speak stats, but I am a gut guy. My gut always says “MJ stands alone (thus far)”. So I was tickled pink this morning to here on sports talk radio, that as of today, Kobe has played the exact amount of NBA games as Jordan, hmm. Wondering if my gut will be proven wrong? Well, if you really care, go to NBA.com and look up player career stats. Kobe is close in some categories, but Jordan wins most by a landslide: total points, shooting percentage, free throw percentage, avg points per game, steals, blocked shots, MVPs, NBA titles etc etc etc etc . Jordan wins them all! So my gut was right again! I’ll leave out the part that Jordan never raped anyone, oops guess I didn’t leave it out did I? So the moral of the story is always trust your gut! You will have to get drunk without us tonight! But we have some great news for next Wednesday January 19th! We are playing our first show at the new Met Cafe! We are opening for Young the Giant. I am sure you have heard them on WBRU and have seen them on Jay Leno and other night shows. They have a great song out called "My Body" Anyway, WBRU asked us to open for them. We start at 8:30 sharp. This is not a gimmick to get you there, we start exactly at 8:30. We are only playing one set so get there early! Doors open at 7:30pm. The show is on $7.95 to see 3 great bands!
