Chris Cruz Dean Petrella Anthony Marotti The Complaints are a modern rock band led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Dean Petrella, with bassist Chris Cruz, and drummer Anthony Marotti. The band formed in 1997 in Providence RI and rapidly gained a reputation of a must see live act. In the fall of 2008 The Complaints released their critically acclaimed third full-length record called Sunday Morning Radio. Once again capturing what only The Complaints can; A singer songwriter, throw back, modern rock feel with a sexy funky vibe to juxtapose their always-unforgettable lyrics. They are currently also writing material for various soundtracks and continue to perform over 200 shows a year. On any given night they can be found playing such hot spots as New York City (The Bitter End), Providence (Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel), Boston (Middle East), Philadelphia (The Grape Street Pub), Vermont (The Pickle Barrel), Hilton Head (Wild Wing Cafe), Atlanta (10 High) Ri Ra Irish Pubs (Atlantic City NJ, Burlington VT, Portland ME and Charlotte NC) and many more. The Complaints have recently shared the stage with Collective Soul, 3 Doors Down, Train, Nickleback, Guster, Candlebox, Must, The Tubes, 10,000 Maniacs, Dave Davies of The Kinks and many other national acts. The Complaints have won awards for their songwriting and performances, including the Newport Singer/Songwriter Award, Album of the year in the Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll 2000 for their debut CD Fear and Best Male Alternative Vocalist in the 2009 Motif Magazine best Music Poll. Their music was featured on the MTV program Undressed and on many college and AAA radio stations across the country. They have showcased at CMJ/NYC and PMC/Philadelphia.
